The Story of Stuff

From its extraction through sale, use and disposal, all the stuff in our lives affects communities at home and abroad, yet most of this is hidden from view. The Story of Stuff is a 20-minute, fast-paced, fact-filled look at the underside of our production and consumption patterns. The Story of Stuff exposes the connections between a huge number of environmental and social issues, and calls us together to create a more sustainable and just world.

What about the depreciation of stuff and GDP?

Machines wear out and economists subtract their depreciation if they are CAPITAL GOODS like industrial robots. This is NDP, Net Domestic Product, we almost never hear about it. But economists add the stuff we buy to GDP also and call it economic growth. But that stuff never gets subtracted.

We are running the economy of the world on bad algebra. Our colleges and universities are teaching economics based on bad algebra.
